Canal Bridge on First Street Defiance Ohio






First Street Canal Bridge






      The canal bridge, on First Street, was a diagonal iron, build by McNairy & Co.in 1871. The span was 96ft in the clear, the roadway of 18ft, the height was 15ft, and was said to be the strongest highway bridge. A 5ft sidewalk on each side. The entire bridge was iron except the floor.
