Cattle Fish

George Stryker caught a singular curiosity at the dam (State Dam), the like of which has never before been seen in the waters of this part of the world. As well as it can be described is to say that it is of a fishy flesh color and from tip to tip is twenty inches in length. It has ten tentacles, or feelers the largest ten inches long, and each covered with suckers. When in their natural position extend forward over the head or front of the creature, while back under them is the mouth, which has a diminutive beak and bill, similar to that of a parrots. From its head back extends a sort of body which  resembles a bladder, and at the extremity is a tail shaped like an arrow head and flat.
It was alive when caught, and was kept for a week in water, when it died. It was brought to town and given to Dr. E.N Lewis, where it has been viewed by hundreds.
The nearest description at hand of this stranger, is to be found in the description of a cattle fish, only it lacks the tail, and this has no hard body. When in the water it looks very much like the stomach of a calf, only for its arms and peculiar tail. That it is a stranger to these water is certain as no one ever heard of its like before. It is to be regretted that it was injured in catching it die, as it is a most wonderful curiosity.
